Why should i keep the Sabbath, did God say so?

Let us go to our Bibles to see if God told us to keep His Sabbath day Holy.

The first thing we are going to do is that, we are going to establish whether or not the Sabbath was made for everyone (Man). Let us begin.

Mar 2:27  says "And he said unto them, The sabbath was made for man, and not man for the sabbath."

What does the word "man" mean?

The definition for man comes From (Greek 435) and it means "a human being."

Here we see that the Bible says the Sabbath was made for human being, because a man is "a human being."

Now, let us turn our Bibles to the Book of Genesis.

In (Gen 2:2-3) the Bible says "And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made. And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made."

Why did God rest on the seventh day? Was He setting an example or a pattern of His ways?

The Bible says in (Gen 18:19) "For I know him, that he will command his children and his household after him, and they shall keep the way of the LORD, to do justice and judgment; that the LORD may bring upon Abraham that which he hath spoken of him."

2Samuel 22:31 "As for God, his way is perfect; the word of the LORD is tried: he is a buckler to all them that trust in him."

2Samuel 22:33  "God is my strength and power: and he maketh my way perfect."

Psa 119:32 - 35 "I will run the way of thy commandments, when thou shalt enlarge my heart. 33  HE. Teach me, O LORD, the way of thy statutes; and I shall keep it unto the end. 34 Give me understanding, and I shall keep thy law; yea, I shall observe it with my whole heart. 35  Make me to go in the path of thy commandments; for therein do I delight."

Rom 7:12  Wherefore the law is holy, and the commandment holy, and just, and good.

Would you then say that God did not give the Sabbath to Adam and Eve, who were neither jews nor gentiles?

If you says no, they were not walking in the way of the Lord and if you say yes, that means they were keeping the way (commandment) of the Lord until they had sinned, otherwise they could not have sinned.

Notice what the Bible says below:

Rom 7:7  "I had not known sin, but by the law: for I had not known lust, except the law had said, Thou shalt not covet."

1John 3:4 "Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law."
Rom 5:12  "Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned"

This one man is Adam and by him sin had entered into this world; thus the commandments were given to Adam and Even, else they could not have sinned; for sin is the transgression  of the law.

Notice what John says in the book of revelation.

Rev 1:10  "I was in the Spirit on the Lord's day, and heard behind me a great voice, as of a trumpet"

The Lord has a day, right? I wonder which day is it? Lets answer the question below:

Which day is the Lord's day?

Mat 12:8  "For the Son of man is Lord even of the sabbath day."

Exo 20:10  "But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates"

Mar 2:28  "Therefore the Son of man is Lord also of the sabbath."

Exo 20:11  "For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it. "

Luk 6:5  "And he said unto them, That the Son of man is Lord also of the sabbath."

If they Lord had given us His day of rest, should we make our own?

Let us see what the Bible says.

Heb 4:4 - 10 "For he spake in a certain place of the seventh day on this wise, And God did rest the seventh day from all his works. 5 And in this place again, If they shall enter into my rest. 6 Seeing therefore it remaineth that some must enter therein, and they to whom it was first preached entered not in because of unbelief: 7 Again, he limiteth a certain day, saying in David, To day, after so long a time; as it is said, To day if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts. 8 For if Jesus had given them rest, then would he not afterward have spoken of another day. 9 There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God. 10 For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from his."

The bible says God would not have spoken of another day if He had already given us His day of rest. The answer is therefore no. We should not make our own, but follow in the pattern of the Lord our God.

Was the Sabbath being kept after the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ? 
Should it continue to be kept until this day?

Let us read what the Bible says:

Act 13:14 "But when they departed from Perga, they came to Antioch in Pisidia, and went into the synagogue on the sabbath day, and sat down."

Act 13:42 "And when the Jews were gone out of the synagogue, the Gentiles besought that these words might be preached to them the next sabbath."

Act 13:44 "And the next sabbath day came almost the whole city together to hear the word of God."

Act 17:2 "And Paul, as his manner was, went in unto them, and three sabbath days reasoned with them out of the scriptures."

Act 18:4  "And he reasoned in the synagogue every sabbath, and persuaded the Jews and the Greeks."

This verse below is referring to the end of time:
Mat 24:20  "But pray ye that your flight be not in the winter, neither on the sabbath day."

Here, the Bible makes it clear for us that the Sabbath was being kept after the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ and should continue to be kept, even forever according to (Isaiah 66:23) " And it shall come to pass, that from one new moon to another, and from one sabbath to another, shall all flesh come to worship before me, saith the LORD."
